Print 52 week 32. Christmas linoprint

Things have suddenly got very Christmassy. Drinking mulled wine, buying gifts and putting decorations up at work. My Facebook feed seems full of people posting photos of their Christmas trees (bit early?!), so I thought a simple Christmas decoration linoprint was in order.

Print 52, week 26 – country lane linoprint

It’s week 26 already! Can’t believe it. This week’s print is inspired by lots of little journeys I do every week through winding country roads. I love driving, especially on little B-roads through woods and past fields. I find it relaxing too, except if I’m stuck behind a tractor of course.

Print 52, week 22. Abstract lines linoprint

For this week’s linoprint I wanted to create a simple linear linoprint. I like to think the finished design abstractly resembles a ploughed field with the sun setting in the background. Its the time of year that you see lots of combine harvesters in the field and this print remind me of a picture I drew when I was little of a tractor in a field surrounded by birds. I made it using coloured pencils and then laminated it – that’s how proud I was of it!

Print 52 week 15 – abstract lino print

I’ve had a wonderful weekend. I went to a friends wedding in the Cotswolds, I was a bridesmaid and had such a brilliant time with all my best mates. I didn’t think I could do the wedding any justice my theming this week’s print 52 around it, so I created a pattern based on abstract petals. I really loved week 4’s abstract shapes so wanted to try something similar this week.

Behind the scenes in July

July has been a busy month with lots going on in work and out of work. I’m always taking photos on my phone documenting lots of the things I get up to so thought I’d share this month’s happenings in a blog post. Here’s what I’ve been up to behind the scenes:

Print 52 begins next week

On Monday I’m starting a new weekly feature called Print 52. This will run for a whole year and will be based around me creating a small one-off A6 lino print each week in response to something that’s happened to me or in the world, something I’ve seen or been inspired by, or anything to do with my week. The aim is to make a record of the year through print and to experiment, explore, and, or course, share with all of you.

I’ll post the first print next Monday, then each Monday after that, so follow the blog to keep updated. To whet your appetite in the meantime here are some printmaking photos I’ve taken over the last few productive weeks.

Waddesdon craft fair October 2012

This weekend’s craft fair at Waddesdon

Had a super time at Waddesdon Artists and Makers fair  this weekend, exhibiting with my sister Sam. Thanks to everyone who came. Had the chance to meet some great people, ate some delicious cake and even found time to cut the lino for my next print.

Our next event takes place in Thame, at the Town Hall, next Saturday. You can find out more on Sally Evans Events website.

Here are a few photos of the weekend for you to enjoy:
