It’s week 26 already! Can’t believe it. This week’s print is inspired by lots of little journeys I do every week through winding country roads. I love driving, especially on little B-roads through woods and past fields. I find it relaxing too, except if I’m stuck behind a tractor of course.
I’ve had a wonderful weekend. I went to a friends wedding in the Cotswolds, I was a bridesmaid and had such a brilliant time with all my best mates. I didn’t think I could do the wedding any justice my theming this week’s print 52 around it, so I created a pattern based on abstract petals. I really loved week 4’s abstract shapes so wanted to try something similar this week.
July has been a busy month with lots going on in work and out of work. I’m always taking photos on my phone documenting lots of the things I get up to so thought I’d share this month’s happenings in a blog post. Here’s what I’ve been up to behind the scenes:
On Monday I’m starting a new weekly feature called Print 52. This will run for a whole year and will be based around me creating a small one-off A6 lino print each week in response to something that’s happened to me or in the world, something I’ve seen or been inspired by, or anything to do with my week. The aim is to make a record of the year through print and to experiment, explore, and, or course, share with all of you.
I’ll post the first print next Monday, then each Monday after that, so follow the blog to keep updated. To whet your appetite in the meantime here are some printmaking photos I’ve taken over the last few productive weeks.
Had a super time at Waddesdon Artists and Makers fair this weekend, exhibiting with my sister Sam. Thanks to everyone who came. Had the chance to meet some great people, ate some delicious cake and even found time to cut the lino for my next print.
Our next event takes place in Thame, at the Town Hall, next Saturday. You can find out more on Sally Evans Events website.
Here are a few photos of the weekend for you to enjoy:
