So I haven’t written a blog post in a while. In fact I’m completely guilty of abandoning it for a few years! What happened? Well, I suppose life got in the way. Working full time, running a business in my spare time and day to day ups and downs means writing a blog post comes fairly low on the list.
But right now I’m resolved to get back into the habit! And I’m going to start with something beautiful…
Recently I’ve got back into painting, having been focused on printmaking over the last 5 years or so. I always loved painting at college and would pick up a paintbrush from time to time but never kept going with it. A few months ago I really fancied painting something and thought that maybe instead of just finishing one piece I should commit a bit more to it and make it more of a regular thing. My thing. I bought some canvases and enrolled on a 10 week painting course at a local art school – just to help push me out of my comfort zone a bit.
Right now I feel like I’ve got into the swing of things, and I’m painting a lot – more than I ever have before. I love painting landscapes, mainly using my photographs as references, and only want to paint places that I’ve been to and mean something to me.
And that’s what I want to share with you today. No, not my paintings (I’ll share those later) but some photos. Scenes that I haven’t painted, and to be honest can’t see how I’d do justice to them! These are from a recent trip to north Wales, complete with changeable weather and buckets of rain. Perfect for some atmospheric shots.
